Pricing
Free tells you there are four. Paying tells you what happens at yours.
Knowing that sugar does four jobs is a fact you can have for nothing. Knowing that at the reduction you have in mind the colour goes further than the sweetness, and that it will be noticeably firmer by the next morning, is what decides whether you make it as written.
All prices are shown in US dollars (USD) and include VAT at 20% where it applies. Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account.

The allowance
What each thing draws down.

|---|---|
| Reading a recipe and putting it in a bucket | 1 |
| Working out how the four jobs are shared in it | 2 |
| Drawing the bar and the change-preview card | 5 |
An allowance is a right to use the service for the period you have paid for. It is not money, it is not stored value, it cannot be exchanged for cash and it cannot be transferred. There are no credit packs and no top-ups: if you run out, you either wait for the reset or move up a plan.
Before you subscribe
- What you are buying
- Access to an online tool that explains which jobs sugar is doing in a recipe you supply and how the finished bake changes when some of it is removed. It is a subscription to a digital service, not a physical product and not a download.
- Price and currency
- Shown in US dollars (USD), including VAT at 20% where it applies. The price you see at checkout is the price charged. We will tell you before any price changes and you can cancel rather than accept them.
- How often you are charged
- Monthly plans are charged every month on the day you subscribed. Annual plans are charged once a year. Renewal is automatic until you cancel, and we send a reminder before each annual renewal and before any free trial turns into a paid period.
- How to stop
- Cancel at any time from your account page, in a couple of clicks, with no reason required and no telephone call. Cancelling stops the next charge and you keep the plan until the period you have paid for ends.
- Changing your mind
- You have 14 days to cancel and get your money back. Because this service starts straight away, that right ends once you have asked us to begin and acknowledged that starting means losing it — which is why there are two separate tick boxes at checkout, neither of them pre-ticked. Full wording and the statutory form.
- Card details
- Card numbers are entered on our payment processor’s own hosted page over an encrypted connection and never reach Sugarhold’s servers. The processor is certified to PCI DSS Level 1. We store only the last four digits, the card type and the expiry date, so you can tell your cards apart.
- Who you are contracting with
- Sugarhold is a trading name of STARBAK LIMITED, which is the seller of record for every subscription. Company details.
Where the line is
The breakdown is free. The reading is not.
On the Free plan you get the four-job breakdown for a recipe: which of the four jobs sugar is mostly doing in that particular bake, and which one something else could carry. That is a genuinely useful thing to know and it costs nothing.
What the paid plans add is the part you act on — the reading at the exact reduction you have in mind, the change-preview card you can print and stick on the wall, and where to take it out of first so the loss is smallest.
A batch that comes out wrong costs you the ingredients and an afternoon. That is what this is priced against.
